The Joy of Letting Go

Implementers EOS

Back in March – while checking in during a session – one of my clients said something profound. This founding entrepreneur and Visionary reminded me what building a great organization is all about. It’s worth repeating.

His Integrator had just shared “good news” from the prior quarter – they’d secured a big contract from a key prospect the company had been courting for years. Cue the Visionary:

“My good news is that we won that business, and I had absolutely nothing to do with it!

He was beaming like a proud father whose son or daughter has just scored the winning goal. There was no hint of regret in his voice, no bruised ego, no longing for the way things used to be. In that moment, I realized just how hard it is for all of us, myself included, to truly let go of the vine. And just how sweet it is when we (finally) can. My client inspired me to write a “delegate and elevate” Rock next quarter. I can get better, and my business will be better when that happens. Do you feel the same way?
